TO BECOME THIS GENTLE

A Photo series I did at the age of 18, before ever understanding this was my first attempt at installation work. I recreated the study room I had in mind when I imagined being able to study somewhere beyond what I was about to get into. I was dreading the possibility of not being where I wanted to be after high school. This piece represents the possibilities life does not give us immediately, but we would have wanted to give ourselves. All furniture was carefully placed in the ocean to represent seeking to be far from situated reality.
